I jump on the first flight to Paris with someone I am in love with and even though we’re jet-lagged, we’re drinking a bottle of cabernet on a rooftop while tearing off pieces of baguette and I’m carelessly shoving chunks of it in my mouth, the heavy and creamy cheese leaving it's mark in the corner of my mouth, and the Eiffel Tower light show is happening in the background. Our silence envelopes us. Later, we fall asleep after a bath and I fall asleep wearing a white robe that feels too stiff and starchy and when I wake in the morning, I wake to croissants, jam and hot chocolate.
